Quince are hard, aromatic bright golden-yellow fruit, similar in appearance to a pear.
They are tart and seldom eaten raw, but are processed into marmalade, jam, jelly (known as quince cheese), used with or instead of apple and pear in desserts or meals or for making  beverages.
They are usually ready for picking in early April.
