Greengages are round-oval in shape and are smaller than traditional round plums, usually between 2 and 4 cm diameter. They have a green appearance  turning yellower when fully ripe, with a red bloom on the shoulder.
Greengages have a sweet, honeyed, and syrup-like translucent flesh surrounding a semi clinging stone. 
They are usually ready for picking in early February.
